MY CAREER IN SIX SPOTLIGHT

Sharing her career journey by answering the six questions below.

Who or what has been your biggest source of inspiration throughout your career?

I’ve been fortunate to work with several outstanding managers throughout my career who served as mentors and provided thoughtful, constructive feedback. Their guidance helped me identify key areas for growth and pushed me to stretch into new roles. I’ve also had mentors outside of my direct reporting lines who offered broader perspectives and helped me navigate organizational dynamics. One especially valuable piece of advice was to make time to review and map out the skills I need, not just for where I am, but for where I want to go. You own your career path, and success comes from preparing for that next step.

Would you say your success is primarily due to luck or hard work?

Collaboration and communication have been critical to my success. In a sales environment, it’s essential to build strong internal partnerships, whether with Product, Operations, Service, or Implementation, to get things done for your clients. You need to know who to go to and how to bring people together to deliver results. As a manager, building trust and working cross-functionally are just as important. I believe in direct, honest dialogue with my team, peers, and clients. That openness builds trust and demonstrates the integrity you bring to your role.

What is the driving force behind your career aspirations?

My career goals have always been grounded in personal growth and skill development. As I’ve taken on more senior roles, I’ve become passionate about leading cross-functional teams and fostering inclusive, collaborative environments. One of the most meaningful aspects of my career now is mentoring emerging managers, especially women looking to take the next step in their careers. I believe it’s part of my responsibility to support the next generation of leaders, and I’m proud to do that through mentorship programs at HSBC and Women in Payments.

If given the chance to do one thing differently in your career, what would it be and why?

I wouldn’t change a thing. I’ve truly enjoyed my journey and remain passionate about Treasury Sales. Working at four different financial institutions has given me the opportunity to build a diverse network and gain insight into how different client segments operate. That experience has helped me better understand client needs and craft meaningful solutions. I’ve also had the chance to travel both domestically and globally, which has broadened my perspective and allowed me to learn from different cultures around the world.

What was your most favourite job/role and why?

I’ve enjoyed every one of my leadership roles, especially those that allowed me to build inclusive and high-performing teams. There’s something incredibly rewarding about bringing people together around a shared goal and seeing how each team member contributes with their own ideas and perspectives. I particularly enjoy identifying talent and encouraging people to share their feedback with the group. I continue to learn every day from my teams, their insights are invaluable.

Do you have a favourite motto or quote that guides your professional life?

Learn to embrace discomfort, it’s necessary for growth.” That’s something I’ve come to live by. Each time I’ve stepped into a new role, I’ve faced unfamiliar challenges, whether that meant managing larger teams, entering new markets, or working with new clients. It’s in those moments of uncertainty where the most growth happens. Leaning into discomfort has helped me build confidence, adapt quickly, and lead with empathy.
